RTP, the Portuguese National Broadcaster confirmed participation in Copenhagen yesterday on their official website and Facebook Page.
Even though Portugal confirmed participation the selection method wasn't decided yet but it will probably be a National Selection just like in previews years. In 2013, RTP withdrew from Eurovision due to financial difficulties and it wasn't clear if they wanted to return so early.
Portugal last participated in 2012, when Filipa Sousa represented them with her Vida Minha. She failed to qualify for the final after coming 13th in her semifinal. Portugal’s best result in the contest dates back to 1996, when Lúcia Moniz came sixth with O Meu Coração Não Tem Cor.
