A few moments ago it was announced that Aalborg has dropped out of the 2014 Eurovision host city race, as it can't offer enough hotel rooms for the forthcoming contest. Hence leaving 4 cities in the bidding race: Frederica, Horsens, Herning and Copenhagen.

The national Danish broadcaster DR reports on their official website that Aalborg has decided to withdraw their bid to host the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest after the city's municipal councilors meeting today. At the meeting the city coucil voted against the bid as the city lacks the number of hotel rooms required for hosting the event. Hence Aalborg could not meet up with 3000 hotel room required.

Taking into account that 3000 hotel rooms are required to be secured for a city to win the bid to host the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, it seems the hot favourite to bag the event is none other that the Danish capital Copenhagen. It is very unlikely that any of the 3 bidding cities would match with 3000 room requirment.

Copenhagen has an international airport which offers excellent flight connections to most of the European capitals, has a large number of hotels and hotel rooms, the infrastructure, excellent transport system, know how and experience of having hosted the event twice before.

It is most likely that if Copenhagen wins the best we might see ourselves revisiting The Parken Stadium, very much in the style of the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest. The 2 other venues in the city The Forum ( venue for Congratulations 50 years Eurovision Song Contest Show) and the Bella Centre might be too small.
