Mr Johnny Kalimeris, Executive Member of the Board at ERT told esctoday.com that although the final decision will be made shortly it is highly unlikely that the country will be able to take part this year.
Greece is one of the largest markets for Eurovision where is a matter of national pride for Greece to take part in the contest.
The unlikeness of Greek participation is due to a round of budget cuts in Greece and also a rise in their participation fee from EUR 100,000 to EUR 120,000. Greece is also struggling to find private sponsors for their participation.
